Before we get to Week 2, I want to look back at Week 1 and see what I got right and what I got wrong. There is no point in aimlessly making start/sit/sleeper decisions if I’m not learning from my mistakes. And bragging about one thing I get right. Here's the accountability check for Week 1. Here’s last week’s start/sit article for reference.

ECR is based on the Expert Consensus Rankings at FantasyPros ahead of each week’s games.

Actual is based on PPR scoring.

Fantasy Point Difference is the difference between the player's Actual and the player who finished at that week's ECR. So +1.5 points means the player finished 1.5 points higher/better than the player at the ECR. This gives me an idea of the actual points I gained or left on the table.

QUARTERBACKS

START

Baker Mayfield (TB) v. CIN

  • ECR 14 v. Actual QB-26

  • Fantasy Point Difference: -6.3

This was an absolute bummer, with Baker having an efficient day but not throwing a single touchdown. The point difference isn’t horrible, but it could have been the difference in your matchup.

Tyler Shough (NO) v. DET

  • ECR 17 v. Actual QB-8

  • Fantasy Point Difference: +9.2

Things didn’t start well for Shough with multiple turnovers, but it took a turn for the better, throwing for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns. This decision could’ve tilted the scales in your favor.

FADE

Daniel Jones (IND) v. BAL

  • ECR 23 v. Actual QB-29

  • Fantasy Point Difference: -4.0

Jones had a forgettable game both on the ground and through the air. He did slightly worse than expected, but it wasn't too surprising.

C.J. Stroud (HOU) v. BUF

  • ECR 25 v. Actual QB-16

  • Fantasy Point Difference: +3.8

Stroud had a strong showing as the Texans narrowly lost to the Bills. The point difference wasn't significant enough to make a big impact, but there’s no denying Stroud played better than expected.

SLEEPER

Geno Smith (NYJ) v. TEN

  • ECR 28 v. Actual QB-28

  • Fantasy Point Difference: +0

Geno has been appropriately estimated, no more, no less.
