Trevor Lawrence rose to the occasion in Week 6, while Rhamondre Stevenson faded into the background behind rookie Corey Kiner. I had a couple misses in Week 6, but more hits and I hope it helped even one fantasy manager get a win or two (including against the median). But before we get to Week 7, I want to look back at Week 6 and see what I got right and what I got wrong. There is no point in aimlessly making start/fade/sleeper decisions if I’m not learning from my mistakes. Here’s last week’s start/sit article for reference.
ECR ➡️ Based on the Expert Consensus Rankings at FantasyPros ahead of each week’s games.
ACTUAL ➡️ Based on PPR scoring.
FANTASY POINT DIFFERENCE ➡️ The difference between the player's Actual and the player who finished at that week's ECR. Example) +1.5 points means the player finished 1.5 points higher/better than the player at that week's ECR.
✅ Hit ➡️ ≥ 2.0 points in the right direction — Example) +2.0 points for a “START”
❌ Miss ➡️ ≥ 2.0 points in the wrong direction — Example) -2.0 points for a “START”
🤷♂️ / 🚑 Wash / Injury ➡️ < 2.0 points plus or minus — Example) -1.0 points for a “START”
QUARTERBACKS
START
Bryce Young (CAR) @ PHI ✅
ECR 12 v. Actual QB-7
Fantasy Point Difference: +3.2 points
Fresh off a bye week, Young showed up well against a stingy Eagles defense. Young kept up his yardage ways with 281 passing yards and threw two touchdowns en route to a Panthers’ victory. This was a good call, and until we see something different from Young, he is a set-it-and-forget-it starter.
FADE
Trevor Lawrence (JAX) v. HOU ❌
ECR 11 v. Actual QB-1
Fantasy Point Difference: +11.6 points
Well, I completely underestimated how Lawrence and the Jaguars would do against the Texans' defense (even though the Texans won). Despite Lawrence’s proclivity for Turnover-Worthy Throws, he threw four touchdowns to one interception and took zero sacks. I was wrong to doubt the Jaguars’ offense in Week 6.
SLEEPER
Michael Penix Jr. (ATL) v. CHI ✅
ECR 20 v. Actual QB-5
Fantasy Point Difference: +10.5 points
Caleb Williams got a win on his return from injury, but Penix left with a hell of a great fantasy performance. Penix threw for a modest 225 passing yards but added three touchdowns (two of which went to Kyle Pitts). If the defense isn’t too stingy, Penix remains a weekly streaming option.
